There are people in this
world who are hurting deeply on the inside. You’d often never even realize how
desperate the people around you really feel. These people hide their true
emotions so well from everyone to spare them from the pain.

If you are
someone who’s suffering internally, you will be able to relate your struggles
with others who are doing the same. These are 8 things that only people who are
hiding their inner pain will understand.
1. You Keep
Yourself Occupied
In your
everyday life, you keep as active as you can. The people around you see you as
productive and energetic, but really you’re just trying to distract yourself.
Keeping busy is the only good way to forget about the pain that you feel.
2. You Try to
Make the People Around You Smile
“I think the
saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy because they know
what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to
feel like that.”
― Robin
Williams
You know how
truly awful it is to be in constant despair and don’t want any of the people
that you care about to ever feel the same as you do. You try your hardest to
make people happy, make them smile, and make them laugh.
3.
Overthinking Rules Your Life
You’re constantly stuck inside
your own head. You have a million complicated, conflicting thoughts bombarding
you at any given moment. Concentrating on the things going around you can often
be extremely difficult for you because of this. It makes you distracted and
mentally exhausted.
4. You Try to
Act Positive
Your internal
struggles have given you a bleak outlook on life. One of your worst fears is
that people will realize how pessimistic you are. To compensate, you always act
positive, sometimes overly so.
5. You Can Be
a People-Pleaser
Saying no is
an almost impossible task for you. In your own mind, you feel like a failure
and a burden to the people around you. You don’t want to feel like more of a
failure, so you try to keep everyone around you happy with you. You’ll do
whatever people ask you to do and give them whatever they want from you.
6. Being
Honest is Difficult for You
The person
that you really are is someone that you hate. You’d give anything not to let
people see the real you, for fear that they’ll hate you too. You hide your pain
through lies. When someone asks how you are, you’ll never do more than say that
you’re fine.
7. You Do
What You Can to Numb the Pain
Almost
everyone who finds themselves suffering internally has some vice to help them
to cope. It could be gambling, drinking, drugs, reckless behavior or in some
cases even harming yourself. As innocent or as serious as it may be for you,
you still need something to help ease the pain that you feel.
8. When
You’re Alone, You Break Down
You spend
most of your time bottling up your emotions, hiding them from the outside
world. When you’re finally alone, that’s when it all breaks loose. Being alone
allows all your emotions to come pouring out like a waterfall. There’s often
nothing you can do to keep them in.
It’s going to
be a long road, but with time you will be able to find the light at the end of
the tunnel. There’s hope that you will find happiness, but you first need to
trust the people that you love and open up to them.
Letting
people into your life will help you to rid yourself of this pain. You do not
have to suffer alone.
You deserve
every happiness in the world.
